Chewy Jumbo Chocolate Chip Cookies - Sara's Favorite

OK so the search was on the past few weeks to find a good recipe for chocolate chip cookies. So far this is the winner. I have yet to check out the one my brother Wade used when we were kids but the one I am listing comes close.

4 1/4 C. Flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1 1/4 tsp salt

1/2 C. Butter (salted), softened
1 C. Shortening
1 1/4 C. sugar
1 1/4 C. packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 Tblsp. vanilla

1 - 12 oz. pkg of chocolate chips (2 cups)

Heat oven to 375 degrees.

Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in medium bowl and set aside.

Combine butter, sugar and brown sugar in large bowl. Mix. Add eggs and vanilla. Continue until well mixed.
Then gradually add in flour mixture until well mixed and finally the chocolate chips.

This recipe mentions using a mixer, but it seems to work better for us mixing by hand.

For Jumbo cookies use 1/4 cup of dough, 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

Bake 10-14 minutes until light golden brown. Do not overbake.

Makes 26 jumbo cookies. For smaller cookies (2 1/2 inch) use about 1 Tblsp of dough. Makes about 4 dozen.
